    1. What a gem of a novella. Maybe the best novella I have ever read. This is HILARIOUS and winsome with two completely unexpected romantic leads. It's smart, sassy and wholly endearing and I want people to read this STAT! I immediately went and ordered the author's 2 books on amazon after finding this treat on Netgalley.A few quotes: "Men don't like when women show intelligence.""My mother always said poetry gets people into trouble.""She was far more interested in you, and you sat there like a turn [...]

    2. This was such a quick little romp with delightfully quirky characters. Eddie, being awkward and clumsy, not the social norm of beauty. Ezekiel is the stereotypical nerd, wanting nothing more than to work and study. Both have parents who want more for them, not understanding that for them, happiness isn't found in the same places their parents found their own pleasure. Their love is, at the roots, a forbidden love. Eddie's mother feels that her daughter is doomed to a life of sorrow (as is their [...]

    3. A lot happened in this brief 80 pages so that it felt much longer than it actually was; if I didn’t know better I would have thought this was just a slightly shorter-than-normal length novel. Novellas can sometimes fall into a trap where the pacing feels too fast or characters are left underdeveloped, but not here! Kathleen Kimmel carefully utilizes each word to move the plot forward or flesh out her characters.Within just a few short pages I felt very sure of my feelings for Lady Eddie and Co [...]

    4. Previously reviewed on The Good, The Bad, and The Unread:After enjoying the first book in this new series, I’ve been looking forward to the release of the second, which promises to fill in the story of my two favourite supporting characters. This wasn’t it, however, merely a stop-gap to fill in some of the background to some plot-defining events in the first novel. Nevertheless, the concept of the characters appealed – I always enjoy romances between those whom society tries to overlook [...]

    6. Eddie was a kind, curious woman, “you could kiss me,” she said. “As practice.” His mouth felt very dry. He stared at her lips. He would definitely like to kiss her. He definitely did not want to do it merely for the practice." I enjoyed this book Eddie's mom though was a damned beast didn't like that woman one bit. Ezekiel was an awkward man but I loved that about him, this was a clean bit no naughty bits which saddened me because I would have loved to Ezekiel handle that situation.

    7. This one was an unfortunate definite struggle to get through (I may need to concede you anti-novella bias). I had trouble until the very end connecting the dots to the first book in the series, which was a shame, and this romance trope was doubly not one of my faves. Cute for anyone who likes awkward cuties being cute though.

    8. This was my first Kathleen Kimmel book. I wasn't aware when I started reading it, that this was part of a series and only a novella. Not a big deal, but I enjoyed Ezekiel and Mildred, loved their off-beat, quirkiness, and would have liked to see them get a longer story. The excerpt made me curious for the next book in the series.

    9. I read this last night and adored it. The socially awkward hero and the brow-beater heroine are adorable together, and I hope we seem them pop up again in other stories!
