    1. Roslyn was starting to question her beliefs about the paranormal, and Whip, her adversary, was getting pretty damn stiff standing in-between the walls spying on her.The Scent of Roses is an engrossing and intriguing romantic mystery, which will kidnap the reader's attention from the very first page.Roselyn Delaney is a strait-laced and strong minded woman who abandoned her home in Salt Lake City, to find her husband, Josiah. Their marriage had only been one of convenience, but still, she loved [...]

    2. How do you get a satisfyingly delicious Western Romance like The Scent of Roses by Charlene Raddon?? Mix: One hot-headed, rough-around-the -edges pool-shark turned miner/businessman/single fatherOne part each: suspicious murder, a mining disaster, long held grudges, a few dark secrets and a haunted house with an old English butler named Smythley, a precocious little girl named Lenna(Do NOT substitute)One prim, proper, naïve woman from Oregon in search of her long-lost husband to save her from t [...]

    3. The first 30% of the book (roughly the first 1/3) was slow. I honestly was not sure I would make it through the book. It was very dry. But, oh but…At that 30% (or 1/3) part, I couldn’t get enough.I couldn’t put the book down. There was not enough time in one day to allow me to continue reading!I loved it! I haven’t read a good love story in quite some time and this was not only a great love story, I loved this love story! This book made me hurt, made me anxious, made me sad and made me laug [...]

    4. I found The Scent of Roses to be a delightful read. I'm one who loves a bit of humor mixed throughout the story line, and I found myself chuckling out loud through out this read. The earlier book To Have and To Hold in the series makes for a complete unit. I prefer to read books in the order they're written as a series or follow-up in a story line. However each book can stand on its own quite well. I look forward to reading more of Charlene Raddon's work.

    5. Whip Kincaid is about to be hit by a series of disasters that will rock his peaceful world. First there is a mine collapse in the town of Whiskey Ridge, Arizona, perhaps caused by Whip Kincaid’s partner, Josiah Bullock. Three men die and before Whip can question Josh more, the latter is found dead, shot by an intruder. Whip discovers his body and also a woman who escapes before he can question her further about the murderer. However, as Josh’s butler, Smythley, remarks, Whip is holding the g [...]

    7. This book made me wonder what I was getting myself into from the start. I started it one rainy morning and did not put it down that night until I was finished with the mysteries that fell around Rose House. Of course, I had to stop to tend to my children but other than that it was a non-stop reading day! I wanted to know all about Rosalyn Delaney, and of course Whip Kincaid. The story starts out at the mines and then takes a serious twist when you find out that Josiah, Whip’s partner and Rosal [...]

    8. I loved it! I would have read it in a day, if I could have and had the time. I started it right before we started packing up to go on vacation. I read a good amount in one sitting, and then I had to wait a couple of agonizing days before I could finish the whole thing. I would read a little after time I had a few seconds to myself because I really wanted to know what happened! The storyline drew me in from the beginning! I wanted to know Rosalyn Delaney's secrets, who killed her husband, Josiah, [...]

    9. "The Scent of Roses" is an engrossing romance/mystery/paranormal/historical book. Very hard to categorize in a single genre. And that's the way I like it!Rosalyn Delaney's husband, Josiah, has disappeared. Their marriage is a marriage of convenience to save Rosalyn from the clutches of a radical Mormon who wants to make Rosalyn his third wife. Rosalyn is fond of Josiah, and so she tracks him down in Arizona, only to find he had thought her dead and had remarriedd has been murdered. The suspects i [...]

    10. It's a western, mystery, historical, romance all swirled into one fabulous story! Set in the Arizona Territory in 1889, The Scent of Roses swept me back in time. With the backdrop of a rugged mining town, the stage set in a house full of secrets, a mysterious butler, a murder and plenty of questions to be answered, this book kept me turning pages till the end. This was the first book I have read from Charlene Raddon and, though this was the sequel to To Have and To Hold, I had no problem followi [...]

    11. After the collapse of his mine, Whip Kincaid returns home to find that his business partner, Josiah Bullock, has been murdered. When Whip is discovered holding the murder weapon, he is forced to go into hiding to escape the hangman's noose. Further complicating matters, Rosalyn Delaney arrived in town the same day claiming to be Josiah's wife. Unfortunately, Josiah's widow, Lucinda, believes herself to be his legal wife, and therefore his heir. This sequel to To Have and To Hold works well as a [...]

    12. Roses hold a special place in many a woman's heart. Every once in a while my husband will surprise me with roses. The first time he had them delivered when I worked in a library. I criedright there in front of the patrons. It was so sweet! Just the title of this book brought me back that moment in time and the love that I felt surrounding me.The Scent of Roses by Charlene Raddon tells the story of a young woman in the time of the "wild west." 13. Capturing Charlene's Charm - to read the full review visit kenowinsky/2013/0Since I lost a nights sleep reading this book - I have to give it a 5 out of 5 stars - of course I might still be a little delirious but I did enjoy reading the book and that's what I love most about reading, getting lost in a story and loosing time of our realities. The Scent of Roses is well worth the investment, both time and monetarily.Overall I would suggest individuals that enjoy fictional, westerns, mystery, roman [...]

    14. I received this book for a fair and honest review. This story is a good example of why we should not judge people and assume things about others. You have no idea what their past is like and why they behave the way they do.While I loved the character of Roselyn, I also found her frustrating. She was so set in her way of thinking she was not letting anyone in. I understand her past but still found it frustrating.I loved how all of the characters matured by the end of the book. By the end everyone [...]

    15. I love this setting. One of my favorite genres is Historical Romance. Throw in a good mystery and then you have a winner. It was a wonderful story that will keep you wondering until the end. I didn't read To Have and To Hold but will definitely go and read it now. Even though it is the first book I'm curious to see what was going on before this story.A very good book that has everything that I love in it.I was given this by Story Cartel for an honest review and I honestly think it was a wonderful [...]

    16. I was captivated by this enticing story. The Scent of Roses is written with such titillating finesse, that you are drawn immediatly into the mystery and intrigue. I found I experienced each twist that Rosyln experienced. Trust me there is a twist or two! Sparks fly between her and Whip that refuse to be denied. The question is whether Whip is as dangerous as people believe he is! Throw in a murdered husband with so many secrets and I found I felt a lot like Roslyn not sure what to do next! Char [...]

    17. I received a copy of this book to review, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I wasn’t sure what to think of this book at first. I had this idea from the first chapter that this was going to be a great story, and it was, but it ended up being so different from what I expected it to be! It’s a different kind of love story and it’s a great mix of romance, mystery and a little bit of paranormal. I really enjoyed reading this book as you just didn't know what was going to happen and who real [...]

    19. This was a great story! It was full of mystery, lust and a growing romance that was full of surprises and suspense. I started reading it and couldn’t put it down. The story draws you in and has you on the edge of your seat, with tissues by your side. The writing was so real you could “feel” the longing and aching of her heart, but you could also “feel” the love. A must read for any mystery romance lover. Great read!

    20. I received a free copy of this book from Story Cartel in exchange for an honest review. This is a great read. If you like romance and you like mystery, you will love this book. While set in a time and place that is completely foreign to me, it quickly drew me in. There are some nice twists that I didn't expect which honestly doesn't happen often so that was really refreshing!
