    1. It has been a while since I’ve read any historical fiction. It used to be a genre that I consumed in massive qualities but lately it seems like I read more paranormal, urban fantasy, and memoirs than anything else. I was recently offered the chance to review Barbara Reilly, and I’m really glad that I did. Barbara Reilly has rekindled my interest in reading stories that take place in times long ago.Barbara Reilly is a small town, 1940’s farm girl who shares a fascination of all things Nativ [...]

    2. This book was spectacular. Normally, I don't read historical fiction, but I was immediately taken in by the fresh and airy writing style of the author, and his engaging description of the locale. The main characters were well-drawn, and easy to like. Barbara's adventure was both magical and educational. The "bad guys" in the book were three-dimensional and understandable. The book really catapulted into a page-turner after the setup was complete, and I couldn't read it fast enough. Then I was so [...]

    3. Ok, this was listed under YA, but it is probably more along the lines of sixth grader. If you don't include the fact that their are a few cuss words. I don't, know what, was up, with all, the commas. There are things called periods. A little too much description and there were times when I just had NO IDEA what was going on. There were all these references to stuff from the time (though well researched) probably nobody would understand. I liked the story line but there was far too little of it a [...]

    4. My father's parents, along with him and my two uncles, LOVED walking up around the mountains in Southern Utah!I remember when we visited them, they had at least three framed pieces on the wall, all three displaying the most intact and brilliantly carved arrowheads. I loved to look at the colors, and the precision of how the maker, now long gone, had formed a rock into a sharp and paper-thinned edged arrowhead.A funny story, and until I was around ten, my grandparents, even my dad, when doing a f [...]

    5. Barbara Reilly by Carl Grimsman is a young adult novel set after WWII in Massachusetts. Barbara Reilly, 13 years old, has a magical connection with the Indian tribe that lived where her family's farm is located. Barbara finds three bark-covered domes filled with authentic Indian artifacts. She convinces her Grampa to help her contact the nearby tribe so the artifacts can be returned. The story is convoluted, but Barbara eventually accomplishes her goal. Maybe if I were younger this story would r [...]

    6. Very different type of genre I'm use to reading, but it was very interesting to follow along Barbara's adventure. At times I would get caught up with information and description given. But overall the author kept the plot interesting and very captivating.
